Charbel-Raphaël Ségerie

Charbel-Raphaël Ségerie is the Executive Director of CeSIA (Centre pour la Sécurité de l’IA, the French Center for AI Safety) — France’s leading AI safety organization. He is one of the most active AI safety institution-builders in continental Europe.

Education and Outreach

Ségerie founded and designed the curriculum for ML4Good — an EU Commission-funded AI safety bootcamp programme that has been replicated 20+ times across Europe, Latin America, and beyond, with a 98% participant recommendation rate. He teaches an AI safety course at the École Normale Supérieure.

He is co-author with Markov Grey of the AI Safety Atlas (ai-safety-atlas.com) — an 8-chapter, ~15-hour textbook covering AI safety from foundations to cutting-edge research. The Atlas is the curriculum spine for CeSIA’s university-accredited course and is freely available online.

Research

Technical research spans RLHF theory, mechanistic interpretability, and safe-by-design approaches.
